Discipleship Pastor

Position Summary
Discipleship Pastor is a full-time pastoral position with primary oversight and leadership given to the discipleship ministry of the church. The discipleship pastor will work alongside the Lead Pastor, other pastoral staff, and discipleship ministry leaders to develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive disciple-making pathway that results in the multiplication of the gospel. This position is directly accountable to the lead pastor and deacons but will also work with an appointed disciple-making leadership team.

Qualifications
     Necessary Attributes
      • Exhibits godly character and meets the qualifications of an elder/pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. 
      • Possesses a fervent desire for disciple-making through a local church
      • Demonstrates strong organizational and administrative abilities
      • Relates well to church members of all ages, from children to senior adults
      • Proactively takes initiative in implementing programming and solving problems
      • Competent leader who empowers others and has excellent interpersonal skills in working together with teams
     Minimum Qualifications
      • Proven track record of managing others
      • Effective communication skills with church members, leaders, and in public settings
      • Previous ministry experience, preferably within a local church setting
      • Must be in agreement with and adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), The Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, and The Nashville Statement on Human Sexuality
      • Degree in Bible, Theology, Religion, or Christian Ministries from an accredited institution
     Preferred Qualifications
      • Master of Arts or Master of Divinity degree in Bible, Theology, Religion, or Christian Ministries from an accredited institution/Seminary or a commitment to pursue one.

Responsibilities
    1. Develop, implement, and manage a disciple-making pathway for the entire church that helps to move new believers through a growth process of maturing in the faith and multiplying the gospel.
    2. Design and utilize a leadership development process for identifying and equipping leaders throughout the disciple-making pathway.
    3. Provide pastoral oversight, accountability, and support for all discipleship ministries of the church: Life Groups, D-Groups, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Re|Engage Marriage Ministry, etc…
    4. Work with the lead pastor to create and maintain a culture of discipleship and evangelism throughout the church, emphasizing the importance of spiritual growth and development.
    5. Manage budgetary funds related to discipleship ministries ensuring that budgets are responsibly utilized.
    6. Be available to preach for morning worship services as needed and regularly teach classes/curriculums developed for the disciple-making pathway.
    7. Must maintain scheduled, regular office hours at the church as determined upon hire
